Diesel Fuel Continues to Decline

The national average diesel fuel price continues to decline according to the Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update released by the EIA.  The report showed the national average diesel fuel price decreased two cents from last week to $3.96 per gallon.  The average price in both the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions  declined by two cents to $3.44 per gallon and $3.95 per gallon respectively.  The East Coast also had a two cent decrease, but at $4.07 per gallon continues to have the highest average diesel fuel price in the nation.  The  average price of diesel fuel is now $3.98 per gallon on the West Coast and $3.79 per gallon on the Gulf Coast, only down a penny from last week for both region.

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness month.  Distraction.gov, published by the US Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, defines distracted driving as any activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving.  According to the NHTSA, these type of distractions include:

  • Texting
  • Using a cell phone or smartphone
  • Eating & drinking
  • Talking to passengers
  • Grooming
  • Reading, including maps
  • Using a navigation system
  • Watching a video
  • Adjusting a radio, CD player or MP3 player

But because test messaging requires visual, manual and cognitive attention from the driver, it is by far the most dangerous distraction. Read More
