February Truck Tonnage Index

The American Trucking Association  reported on March 19, 2013 that the advanced seasonally (SA) adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index rose 0.6 percent in February, the fourth consecutive month that it has increased.  Tonnage gained a total of 7.7 percent over the last four months.  The SA index was up 4.2 percent compared to February 2012.  Year-to-date, the tonnage index is up 4.4 percent compared with the same period in 2012.

According to the American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonal adjustment (SA), For-Hire Trucking Tonnage Index increased 2.9 percent in January.  The SA Index equaled 125.2 (2000=100) in January compared to 121.7 in December.  That makes January’s index the highest on record.  Compared with January 2012, the SA index was up 6.5 percent, the best year-over-year since December 2011.
