Experts Urge Inspection of Trucks in Flood Waters
Experts in the truck maintenance field are reminding fleet managers to inspect all vehicles that were in the flood waters as a result of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Brakes, diesel fuel filters, wheel ends and electronics are some of the more important parts to look at. If the truck’s wheels were submerged in salt water, it is recommended that those key parts be replaced. If fresh water was involved, simply remove and dry the components. It also is wise to check with individual carrier’s insurance provider to see what is covered. The primary concern, says the Technology and Maintenance Council, is safety. Be proactive now, to stop delays later.
