According to the report released Feb. 13, 2013 by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the national average diesel fuel price increased eight cents to $4.10 per gallon, 16 cents high than last year at this time. This is the highest price at this time of year since the EIA began collecting retail price data.
For the third consecutive week, all regions in the nation had a diesel fuel price increase. The Rocky Mountain region had the largest increase, where the price went up 12 cents to $3.96 per gallon. Both the Midwest and West Coast had a price increase of ten cents. The Midwest’s average diesel fuel price increased to $4.08 per gallon, and the West Coast now has a average price of $4.27 per gallon. The East Coast and Gulf Coast both had a price increase of six cents from last week. The East Coast went up to $4.15 per gallon, while the Gulf Coast has an average price per gallon of $4.00.
