April Tonnage Index Down

The American Trucking Association’ For-Hire Tonnage Index fell 0.2 percent in April compared to March according to the report released May 21st.  The index was up 4.3 percent compared to April 2012, the largets year-over-year gain since January of this year.  Year-to-date the tonnage index is up 4 percent compared with the same period in 2012.

The American Trucking Association’ For-Hire Tonnage Index fell 0.2 percent in April compared to March according to the report released May 21st.  The index was up 4.3 percent compared to April 2012, the largets year-over-year gain since January of this year.  Year-to-date the tonnage index is up 4 percent compared with the same period in 2012.

According to the report release April 24, 2013 the American Trucking Association’s advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index was up 0.9 percent in March.  Compared with March 2012 the SA index was up 3.8 percent.  The tonnage index was up 3.9 percent in first quarter 2013 compared with first quarter 2012. February Truck Tonnage Index

The American Trucking Association  reported on March 19, 2013 that the advanced seasonally (SA) adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index rose 0.6 percent in February, the fourth consecutive month that it has increased.  Tonnage gained a total of 7.7 percent over the last four months.  The SA index was up 4.2 percent compared to February 2012.  Year-to-date, the tonnage index is up 4.4 percent compared with the same period in 2012.

According to the American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonal adjustment (SA), For-Hire Trucking Tonnage Index increased 2.9 percent in January.  The SA Index equaled 125.2 (2000=100) in January compared to 121.7 in December.  That makes January’s index the highest on record.  Compared with January 2012, the SA index was up 6.5 percent, the best year-over-year since December 2011.
