On both the East Coast and Gulf Coast the average diesel fuel price also decreased by two cents to $3.89 per gallon on the East Coast, and $3.78 per gallon on the Gulf Coast. U.S. carload volume for the week ending October 19, 2013 was up 0.2 percent compared to the same week last year, and intermodal volume was up 4.3 percent according to the AAR’s Weekly Rail Traffic Summary. Total U.S. rail traffic for the week was up 2.1 percent compared to the same week in 2012.
