June 24, 2017 marked the 10th year of the SUPER KIDS SOAP BOX DERBY in Sharpsville, PA. The weather was great, the street was newly paved, and the kids were full of smiles. The anniversary race was kicked off by a huge parade. The Super Racers led the over 100 units by being escorted individually by 45 Jeeps. The ZemZem Shriners entertained the parade route with 10 different mobile lodge riders. There were monster trucks, clowns, Sharpsville school groups, elected officials, business floats, and the crowd favorite…The Pittsburgh Pirate Parrott! DALKO Resources, DRI Worldwide, LMR, and Thelma’s Sports Nook all had cars in the race. This is one race that has no losers. Every participant earns medals, trophies, and lots of hugs from the crowd. Everyone is looking forward to next year.
UPS has announced that it will institute a delivery surcharge this holiday season. The charge per package will range from 27 cents to 97 cents. To date, FedEx, has not made a decision to follow UPS’s lead. Executives at UPS say that the increase is needed to offset the e-commerce holiday shipping. The surcharge will go into effect 4 days before Thanksgiving, on November 19.

Truck Center Companies of Nebraska recently raised over $230,000 from their Make-A Wish annual golf outing. Since it’s inception, this event has raised over $2.5 million. Truck Centers operates 12 Freightliner dealerships in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kansas. Truck Centers is the largest donor to the Nebraska Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year Jack Johnson was granted his wish to be part of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. He spent 3 days with the team and had an experience of a lifetime!

Cory Johnson, DALKO Resources, Inc. Credit Manager/CPA, had the honor of being on the umpiring crew that officiated the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association AAA State Baseball Championship. The game was played on the campus of Penn State University. Central Martinsburg secured the crown via an 8-3 victory over Wilkes Barre-Holy Redeemer. Johnson, 27, also a college umpire, was very impressed by the way his crew was treated by the PIAA and the competing teams. “I was so grateful to be selected at such a young age. It was definitely an experience I will never forget and will forever be grateful for.”
The United States on-highway diesel fuel price on 7/10/17 averaged $2.481 a gallon. This price was up nearly one cent from the previous week. As was the case last week, every region in the country showed a slight increase with the exception of the Rocky Mountain Region. The highest price remained in California ($2.867). The lowest again was in the Gulf Coast Region ($2.311).
