Rail Industry Blessings

Len GrandyMy life experiences in the rail industry started in 1969 when I was hired by National Castings/Midland Ross Corp. in Sharon, PA. In 1983 I transferred to the Chicago area. While working for National Castings, I had the opportunity of serving on two rail industry boards – the NAPM/Rail Logistics Board and the Rail Packaging committee. I served for 6 years – with my last two being vice president.

While working at National Castings, I held the positions of Plant Scheduler, Parts Buyer, Production Manager, Production Planning Manager, Transportation Manager and Director of Logistics and Transportation. These positions along with the service on the above-mentioned committees, gave me the opportunity to meet some of the best people in the world.

The rail industry hires the best people and gives those who work in the industry the opportunity to gain many friends – some you will have for the rest of your life. This is true for me and my family. The friends I have in the rail industry are truly a blessing to me. My children are gaining these same experiences within the industry as well.

I would not trade my 43 years in the rail industry for anything. The exciting memories I have of people and experiences are too numerous to mention. If I started naming friends I have met – this little article would go on forever.

I give thanks every day for the blessings this industry has provided for me and my family. I really love the rail industry – maybe because it is all I know!

Thank you for being a friend to the DALKO family!
