Diesel Fuel Update Sept. 30th

The average diesel fuel price declined three cents from last week to $3.92 per gallon according to the Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Update released by the EIA yesterday.  In the Midwest the average diesel fuel price fell four cents to $3.89 per gallon.  The price per gallon of diesel fuel in the East Coast, Gulf Coast and West Coast regions all decreased by three cents to $3.93, $3.83 and $4.08 respectively.  The Rocky Mountain price only declined by a penny to $3.93 per gallon.

New HOS Rules Effective July 1

Truck_TrafficEnforcement of the new FMCSA hours-of-service (HOS) regulations will begin July 1, 2013 for all commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) that are involved in interstate commerce.  Trucking companies that operate only within one state are not required to comply with FMCSA rules because the individual state rules apply instead, and therefore are exempt to the new FMCSA hours-of-service rules. Roadcheck 2013

CVSA Roadcheck 2013 logoThe Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and its members across the United States, Canada and Mexico will be participating in Roadcheck 2013, starting June 4 and running 72 hours straight.  This is the 26th anniversary of this annual enforcement and outreach campaign promoting commercial vehicle safety.  Top priority for both enforcement and the industry during this event will be ensuing compliance with the U.S., Canadian and Mexican federal, provincial and state motor carrier safety regulations.  During the campaign approximately three times the daily number of inspections will be conducted.  In addition to the North America Standard Level I inspections, Roadcheck will be focusing special enforcement attention on passenger carrying motorcoaches and buses and proper securement of cargo this year.
