Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrates the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.  His birthday is January 15th, but the federal holiday is always observed on the third Monday of January.  Below is a video about the March on Washington were he gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

In honor of Monday being Martin Luther King Day, todays fact is about Martin Luther King, Jr.

The civil rights leader was born Michael King Jr. on January 15, 1929. However in 1934 his father, a pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, traveled to Germany and became inspired by the Protestant Reformation leader Martin Luther. As a result, King Sr. changed his own name as well as that of his 5-year-old son.

National Clean Off Your Desk Day

 

deskToday is National Clean Off Your Desk. This “informal day,” is a great reminder for us to tidy up and get organized in preparation for the brand-new year ahead of us.
