The average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel is now $2.571. All the Regions in the

U.S. increased except New England where it fell 4 tenths of a cent. California still maintains

LARGE UTILITY ACTING TO CONSERVE DIESEL FUEL

Duke Energy Corporation, as part of a settlement with U.S.E.P.A., will install 24 truck electrification stations at Big Boy’s Truck Stop in Kenly, N.C.

The company will spend over $300,000 on the project. IdleAir is the company that will maintain the units. It will allow truck drivers to turn off their

diesel engines and still have standard electric power in the cab. It is estimated that this should reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 500 tons.

Every year, more than 2 billion gallons of diesel are wasted by overnight idling. The electrification program can be a game changer to consumption of fuel and to the environment.
