According to the American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonal adjustment (SA), For-Hire Trucking Tonnage Index increased 2.9 percent in January. The SA Index equaled 125.2 (2000=100) in January compared to 121.7 in December. That makes January’s index the highest on record. Compared with January 2012, the SA index was up 6.5 percent, the best year-over-year since December 2011.

Freight TSI Rose 1.0%
In the analysis released Feb. 13, 2013, the Department of Trasportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported that its Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) increased 1.0 percent from November to December.
