In their rail traffic summary released May 2, 2013 the AAR reported that intermodal traffic in April 2013 was up 1.6 percent compared with April 2012. Carload volume for April was down 0.4 percent compared with April of last year.
For the week ending April 27, 2013 carload volume was down 2.6 percent, while intermodal volume was up 2.1 percent compared to the same week last year. Total U.S. rail traffic for the week was down 0.4 percent compared to the same week in 2012.

The national average diesel fuel price fell four cents to $3.85 per gallon, 22 cents lower than last year at this time according to the analysis released May 1, 2013 by the EIA. The Gulf Coast had the largest price decrease, where the average price dropped five cents to $3.76 per gallon. Prices went down by four cents in three of the five regions; the West Coast average price is now $3.95 per gallon, the East Coast is $3.89 per gallon, and the Rocky Mountain price is $3.81 per gallon. The Midwest price decreased three cents to $3.84 per gallon.

According to the report released May 1st by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, trucks transported 59.1 percent of the freight moved in February 2013 between the U.S. and its NAFTA partners, Canada and Mexico, followed by rail at 15.3 percent, vessels at 9.7 percent, pipelines at 7.7 percent and air at 3.6 percent. We are proud to announce DALKO’s Miami, Florida agent, Raul Pacheco, and his son Joseph recently achieved black belt status in Taekwondo. Raul and his family started taking classes at their local gym as a way for everyone in the family to spend time together, as well as a way to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Raul and his children, Joseph and Amaya, attend Taekwondo classes while his wife, Maria, cheers them on as well as taking kickboxing and Krav Maga classes. Becoming a black-belt in Taekwondo is a hard thing to achieve and everyone at DALKO is proud of the Raul and Joseph for pushing themselves to achieve their goals. Amaya will be taking the her test in October… there’s no doubt she will join her father and brother as a black belt holder. The Pacheco’s are one tough family and we are glad that they’re in our corner.
