DALKO’S CASEY SMITH DONATES HIS HAIR

Casey Smith, one of DALKO Resources Sales Representatives, recently got his first hair cut in five years. Tangled Up in Sharon, PA, trimmed 22 inches off of Casey’s mane. The reason for his boycott of hair stylists?…so he could donate his locks to Wigs for Kids. This 30 year old non-profit organization has been making hair replacement systems for children and young adults who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation, Alopecia, burns, and other medical issues. There is never a cost to the families. The children who receive these hair replacements can resume a “normal” active lifestyle. They can participate in sports, dance, swimming, and any other extracurricular activity of their choice. Most importantly, it restores the child’s self-esteem and confidence. Way to go Casey!

DALKO OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT NEWS

DALKO President/COO, Rick Grandy, has announced that effective May 1, 2019, personnel changes have been made within the Operations Department. Dennis Hanna has been named Manager of the Truckload Dispatch and Expedited Shipments. Mike Bochert will now be responsible to oversee the Truckload Brokerage Department along with being the Manager of Specialized Services. Bill Stiger is working with Specialized Services. Alice Keck is also Lead Dispatcher and assisting in Specialized Services/Truckload and LTL. Ashley Bone is the Lead Dispatcher Specialized Services, and Dalton Smith is responsible for Truckload Dispatch and Expedited Shipments. Mike Verocco has also been appointed as Manager of Customer Service.

DALKO MySource Enhancements

DALKO is pleased to announce that we recently made some enhancements to our MySource system that will improve the speed and efficiency, as well as give us more flexibility to add new features. The new version will become live Monday April 15th.

The system also has a new smart search feature for the origin and destination locations when booking a shipment. This new feature will allow you to quickly search through all saved locations using any details that were saved with the location. The more data that is entered, the more the system will refine the search. For instance, a location could be found using the location name, city, contact name, phone number, etc. If one or more of these items are combined, the system will further filter through the saved locations using all details entered. # DalkoMySource, #DalkoDiffernce

APRIL BLIZZARD SLAMS THE GREAT PLAINS

An unseasonable snow storm along with high winds is bearing down on parts of Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota. The weather service predicts one to two feet of snow, and up to 60 mile per hour winds. The storm will impact freight movement through these areas. Deliveries may take an extra day depending on the storm.

WEEKLY DIESEL PRICES

United States on-highway diesel fuel price for the week of April 8, 2019 average is $3.093 per gallon. This price is up slightly from the previous week. The price was higher in every region in the country with the exception of the New England Region. California remains the highest at $3.910 per gallon. The most economical region is the Gulf Coast at $2.879.
