Drop In Diesel Fuel Prices

In the analysis released March 6, 2013 the EIA reported the national average diesel fuel price decreased three cents to $4.13 per gallon, four cents higher than last year at this time.  Average diesel fuel prices decreased in all regions of the nation.  The largest decrease was in the Midwest where the price fell four cents to $4.09 per gallon.  The East Coast’s average price per gallon dropped three cents to $4.17 per gallon.  Both the Gulf Coast and West Coast prices declined two cents.  The Gulf Coast average price per gallon is $4.07, and the West Coast price is $4.28 per gallon.  Down just a penny, the Rocky Mountain price is $4.05 per gallon.

The analysis released Feb. 27, 2013 by the EIA reported that the national average diesel price increased less than a penny to remain at $4.16 per gallon, 11 cents higher than last year at this time.  The East Coast price also increased by less than a penny to remain at $4.20 per gallon, while the West Coast price decreased by less than a penny to remain at $4.30 per gallon.  The average price in the Midwest went down one cent to $4.12 per gallon.  The Gulf Coast price is $4.09 per gallon, two cents higher than last week.  The Rocky Mountain price rose three cents to $4.06 per gallon.

For the fifth straight week the national average diesel fuel price increased according to the analysis released by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration Feb. 21, 2013.  The national average price jumped five cents to $4.16 per gallon.  This is 20 cents higher than last year at this time, and tops the previous recent high of $4.12 from the week of Oct. 22, 2012. According to the report released Feb. 13, 2013 by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the national average diesel fuel price increased eight cents to $4.10 per gallon, 16 cents high than last year at this time.  This is the highest price at this time of year since the EIA began collecting retail price data.
