We are excited to announce that two more members were recently added to the DALKO team. Ross Gargano joined the dispatch department as an LTL Dispatcher, and Morgan Swartz joined the billing department as a Billing Representative.
On Saturday May 17th DALKO participated in the Greater Super Kids Classic adult soapbox derby race. This year’s team included Diana Gilmore, Deana Tonty, Ross Gargano and Tom Smith. The annual event is a fundraiser to raise money for the Greater Pennsylvania Super Kids Race that will be held on June 28, 2014. The Super Kids race gives special-needs children the chance to a get a thrill riding downhill in a derby car driven by a volunteer. The two fastest teams get to go to the All-American Rally Championship in Akron, OH.

Deana Grandy, one of DALKO’s owners, was given a unique opportunity. On May 11th she got to throw out the first pitch at PNC Park for the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals game. As a huge Pirates fan she was thrilled to have been chosen.

Earlier this year DALKO contributed to the “My Favorite Book” program at the Sharpsville Elementary School, which provided each first grade student with their own copy of the book “My Favorite Book”.

Kathryn (Katie) Hanley joined the DALKO team October 2, 2013 assisting Mike Nicula in the Collections Department as the Credit and Collections Clerk. Katie is from Sharpsville, and currently attends Penn State Shenango. She is working on a major in Human Development and Family Studies, and hopes to work for Children and Youth Services (CYS) once she graduates.
In her spare time Katie coaches her little sister’s ten and under softball team. She also enjoys reading and playing with her three dogs; Squirrel, a Border Collie, Gunner, a sable German Shepard, and Ozzie, also a German Shepard. When she finds the time to go on vacation her two favorite spots are Walt Disney World and any place with a beach.

Brandon Stieb, DALKO’s Director of Operations, has been selected for the 40 Under Forty Recognition. The 40 Under Forty Recognition is designed to recognize individuals in the community who are under the age of 40 and who are making their mark in the Shenango Valley, Lawrence County and beyond. Their individual achievements may be through business success, scholastic achievement, athletic excellence, community involvement and/or contributions to the non-profit sector.
