Carload & Intermodal Vol. Down

According to the Association of American Railroads report posted January 3, 2013 both U.S. fright carload traffic and U.S. intermodal volume declined for the week of December 29, 2012.

U.S. freight carload traffic dropped 13.8% compared to the same week in 2011.  U.S. intermodal traffic also decline 14%.  For the 52 weeks in 2012, AAR reported that U.S. freight carload traffic dropped 3.1% compared to 2011. On the other hand, U.S. intermodal volume was up 3.2% for the year compared for 2011. Read More

Diesel Prices Decrease

According to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration, diesel prices fell for the tenth time in the last 11 weeks.  The average price per gallon dropped 0.5 cents to $3.918 per gallon for the week of December 31, 2012.  Compared to last year, the average price per gallon is up 13.5 cents.

EIA is calling for diesel prices to average $3.97 per gallon in 2012, and $3.84 in 2013 in their short-term energy outlook.

Diesel Prices Decrease

EIA is calling for diesel prices to average $3.97 per gallon in 2012, and $3.84 in 2013 in their short-term energy outlook.
