U.S. carload volume was up 0.1 percent for the week ending October 12, 2013 compared to the same week last year according to the Weekly Rail Traffic Summary released by the AAR. Intermodal volume was up for the 15th straight week in a row, up 4.0 percent compared to the same week in 2012. Total U.S. rail traffic was up 1.9 percent for the week compared to the same week last year.
